Flax Lily  has striking foliage with medium green and bright yellow along the entire length of the leaf. It will add brightness and in shady spots in the landscape. In spring, sprays of small sapphire blue flowers rise slightly above the foliage. Small blue-black fruits follow the flowers and can persist into winter. It looks great in containers and anywhere a little foliage color and texture is desired and it will grow up to two feet tall and wide. It is an evergreen, clumping perennial with folded strap-shaped leaves that arch slightly out from the base and prefers a moderately fertile, well-drained soil that is neutral to slightly acidic. A native of Australia, New Zealand and Pacific Islands, this variety naturalizes well in warm-temperate climates.
