Hi, I WS'd 3 new types of strawberries this winter and I have 2 types from WSing last winter. I'm gonna put in basic 1'h x4'x4' beds for each type. I plan on spacing plants 8" apart in each bed. The problem I have is chipmunks and squirrel's. I have the heavy duty plastic deer fencing with I think 1/2" wide openings. I want to make a hinged top with this since I already have it, but am worried about the rodent's chewing through it? Has anybody had a problem with that?

I'm sorry nobody's had experience with this. I'd try it, and if it does get chewed through, switch to chicken wire or 1/2 inch galvinized mesh. That'd keep them critters out.
