new here, help with "Mix"

Hi everyone,

I have been reading the forums for a few months, but this is my first post.

I have two raised beds that I made, one with Mel's Mix, one with top soil, with Peat moss, Perlite, Compost, Manure and Black Kow.

The one that has Mel's mix has been forming a slight crust. Now I read (today unfortunately) that I should have wet down the Peat before putting it in the mix, but I didn't. My compost was from a local ecological center, and had wood and lawn compost, kitchen scrap composts, leaf compost, and I put in Black Kow.

Is there too much Peat in the mixture, and how do I correct it? Granted its been cold, but some of my "cold weather" crops have leaves that are turning yellow and the stems are bending over (Mostly on my cauliflower) and I am trying to correct it before I move my seedlings that I started.

What can I do to fix it (add compost, add something else, etc), or did I mess up the Mel's mix batch too much?

Thanks in advance for any advice!
