Water Conditions

Last year my SFG didn't do well (I have been using this method for quite a long time) and I am wondering if my water might have been an issue. I have the choice of watering with untreated well water which has an iron content of 5 ppm, which I am told is not a real high amount. If I water with water which has gone thru our water treatment system, there will be salt in it. I would appreciate your thoughts on which water would be preferable. I did put a filter on the untreated water which did not appear to do any good at all.

I realize that weather, soil conditions and lots of other things could have caused this problem, but would appreciate any thoughts on which water type would be best to use.

I use rain water whenever possible. I have one rain barrel and may add another one this year.

I would just go straight from the well, as I can't see the iron being as much of a threat as the salt would be.
