I only got 5 hours of sun if I was lucky last year and things grew just fine. The peppers and tomatoes were the only things I noticed trouble with, but everything else was fine and appreciated a little more shade in the GA sun.

I'd be concerned about the flooding washing away the soil and drowning the roots, but I don't have any experience with it. I wonder if a good mulching will help.

Thanks, I feel a little better about it. I'm just going to make a row about a shovel width wide by that fence, work in some compost. The flooding won't wash anything away, it just creeps up and recedes.

I have an area behind my garage on the west side. This area gets about 6-7 hours of sunlight daily.

I've always used this area for tomatoes and the tomatoes seemed fine. Last year I added peas and cucumbers to the area - peas did very well but wasn't pleased with the cucumbers.

This year I am going to put cucumbers, peas, lettuce, onions, green beans, and potatoes in this area - since I've also constructed a foundation block retaining wall so I have twice the area to use now.
