Square Foot Gardening

Mini-cabbage in square foot garden

I am trying some mini-cabbages this year. I ordered a triplet mix from Jung's, a green, red and savoy Spacing is 10 to 12 inches. They grow to 1 1/2 Lbs. Last year I had Stonehead and Early Jersey Wakefield. They grew fine but I had to trim them all the time to keep them from crowding out their neighbors. Has anybody had experience with the minis on spacing and successive plantings? Do they keep O.K.? Thank you.

I'm doing my first mini cabages this year, but I checkerboarded them instead of planting every sqft. I did every sqft last year with regular cabages and those suckers took up FAR too much room and never really did well. I'm hopeful that by giving these as much room as they want, I'll at least get some instead of none.
