Square Foot Gardening

Compost in the woods?

Ok, I feel kind of stupid to ask this but, I know you well seasoned gardeners will help me with this. Over the years we piled old grass and leaves and small amounts of misc materials. We dug this up today and what we found was soft and black compost (I think). Will this be Ok to use in my SFG? Thanks in advance.

Take all of the good looking stuff, and put it in your garden. The only thing you have to be mindful of, is weed/grass seeds. I think you'll be fine, though. Good luck!
