Building raised garden beds with 4x8x16 concrete blocks

I'd like to build some 4' by 8' by 32" raised garden beds using 4x8x16 standard concrete blocks. Since these blocks are thinner than common 8x8x16 blocks, I wish to ask your advice on how to assemble them for strong and solid beds.

The beds will be sitting on soil with fabric and chicken wire underneath. I'd read that construction adhesive is good for connecting the concrete blocks. That sounds good, as I'm not experienced with concrete. Some articles mention using re-rod to make things stronger, but I'm not sure where to place it or how deep it should extend into the soil.

If you're going to build with 4x8x16 blocks, you would you do it?
