Square Foot Gardening

How Much Sunlight is needed to start a garden

I would like to do a square foot garden behind my house and currently I am only getting about 4 hours of sunlight/day. Later in the season I will get 8-12 hours of sunlight on the garden area. How much sunlight is needed to start a garden? Will this be enough for a vegetable garden? What crops will grow best in this environment?

Any tips are greatly appreciated.

6-8 is best, but I can do everything except peppers and tomatoes in mine with 5 hours.
