Composite Lumber for Frame

Anyone use Trex or other composite lumber for frames? Is it worth the added cost?

I did my frame last year using composite lumber (veranda? brand from HD). I have 2 beds 12x4 (well the inside ended up being 3'9")
Not sure if it is WORTH the added cost, but I'm happy with it. I didn't have raw material laying about so I was going to purchase something and I liked this the best.

Did you do any research first to find out if there are any safety issues involved? I want to know if there are any toxic chemicals in the composite lumber that can leach into the soil in the beds.
