Quick question

Ok. I am gonna try to get this thought from my head to here so follow along if you can. I am starting a lasagna bed. I am putting in newspaper, peat moss, hay, old potting soil (very little), compost (homemade), grass clippings, kitchen scraps, etc. Ok. So I think I am off to a good start. This is suppose to break down into decent soil. But these are also all the things I would put into compost pile. So then why can I not just add compost? For a SFG you would need compost, vermiculite and peat moss. Right? What is the difference between broken down lasagna bed and SFG? Is it strictly the vermiculte which is for aeration? If so, do I not need aeration in lasagna? Any of this make sense?

Just a thought

Kim
