Does anyone grow Oregon Sugar Pod II snow peas in their square foot garden? I have crammed about 500 seeds in an area 2X8 feet in my garden and they are looking great. Do these things yield as much as the hype people say?

The smaller ones are the Oregon Sugar Pods, larger ones are melting sugar.

I just planted Oregon Sugar Pod II snow peas in my SFG yesterday (a little late). They are supposed to be 8 per square. If you are planting a 2x8 that = 16 squares. 16 x 8 = 129, so that's how many should be planted.

I read some where to put a seed every two inches in all directions, that comes out to 36 seeds per square times 16 squares = 576 seeds. I hope I didn't mess up and plant too many.

My experience with Sugar Pod II in Tucson, AZ has been great! My kids pick loads off of each plant daily. I probably have less than 12 plants and they do a good job supporting eachother, though I don't know how they would do if they were spaced really close together. That sounds like a lot of peas in one place.

How did your tight spacing for the peas work out?
