Hoping for Tomatillos

I have four tomatillo plants that I started from seed two months ago. They are about 1-2 feet tall now and I am hardening them off. They seem to be pretty healthy, though I don't really know what to do with them. I've read advice here to treat them like tomatoes. I am hoping that I can cage them because I am in the process of building a new SFG and don't have trellises yet. I do have 12" deep soil made up of mostly compost. Can I plant the tomatillos deep like I would a tomato plant? Would I do well if I caged each plant in CRW, perhaps in the center of four squares? I've read that the soil for tomatillos should not be too rich. Would the rich compost used in SFG's be too much or will they do fine?

Thanks for assuaging my anxiety!! ;-)
