Trellis against a solid board fence N to S?

There's a treasure trove of information on this site! Thanks to all who are helping the less-experienced grow our gardens.

We've just established our 1st SFG bed, 4 x 10 with trellis at N end. All is growing well and the grandkids are enthused, as am I. It's been years since I could garden!

There is a north/south fence adjacent to the bed on the east side. I would like to know if it's appropriate to run a narrow trellised bed against this all-wood fence. Trellis and narrow bed would be on the west side of the fence. I would like to add canteloupe, and later beans and winter squash. Will these (or other vining types) do well on the western side of a board fence? The fence is in full sun, but I'm concerned about the shade of the fence affecting the vegetables growing.

Kind thanks to any who may help.
