Fence enough?

I'm brand new to SFGing (consider yourself warned). My 2 SFGs are along a chain link fence. If I plant tomatoes along this fence row, will that be sufficient climbing space? I'd rather not cage them or build a trellis, since I kind of have one there already. I'm guessing I'd need to encourage growth toward the fence.

Depends how high your fence is. 5 feet is probably too short for most tomatoes.

I'd love to have a nice fence next to my garden.

Hard to picture...lots of variables. Pics would help if you would like an informed opinion.
