crystabel, I trench composted my kitchen scraps into one bed last year, then planted over it in just a couple of weeks. Things grew great, the only problem being some sweet potato and regular potato peelings began sprouting and growing with the stuff I planted. Actually, potatoes were sprouting in that bed again this spring! If it were me, I'd dig the leaves in a bit...mix them up with the soil. Otherwise I'd be afraid they might mat together and cause a problem with water not penetrating through them.

In other words...I'd do it, YMMV.

Thanks Granny. I went out today and filled 4 squares with my kitchen bucket and mixed the leaves all around to separate them a bit.
I found some worms wriggling around in there too which is cool. I'm glad they found their way in :) .
