SFG soil has sunk

I'm a fairly experienced gardener and started a new SFG last year with excellent results. Over the winter and especially after an incredibly rainy spring, the soil has compacted a good bit--is perhaps 4 inches lower than when I started. Most of the garden has been planted and so I can't do anything this year, but am wondering if it would be a good idea to add more of the soil mix (or maybe some promix) next spring? And what would be done about keeping the soil in the grids where it started. I understand this should be done rather than mixing it all together to keep crop rotation working satisfactorily. I am thinking I could add a few scoops of the new soil or promix into each grid and just mix it up in each grid? Any comments would be greatly appreciated!
