I think you have plenty of time. You have a pretty long growing season and if they don't work out, what's the big deal, most seeds are cheap.

I've had more than one crop from bush beans, but the second crop was not as large. Just cut them back about half and they will bloom and bear again.

It's not too late to plant pole beans in Washington State, so I'm sure you'll be safe planting them in Dallas.

If you just keep picking bush beans will bear all summer.

Another plant that will produce that you are told to pull after harvesting is brocolli. If you plant survives the summer in Texas as it becomes cooler side buds will start to form. Depending on the weather the taste can be sweet or very cabbage like. The buds will form where the leaves emerge from the stem.

Thanks all. I'm going to cut these back some and hope they produce again. I just got finished eating these beans I harvested earlier a few hours ago, and they were really good and fresh.

Meanwhile, I'm going to plant the four squares of pole beans too.

Last year I planted bush green beans in 2 plantings that began bearing about 1 week apart. I had beans for about 3-4 weeks until they pretty well quit (and I keep them picked). I finally cut them back after about 6 weeks but I should have done it after about 4. It was late in the season so we didn't quite get the next crop before they froze.

Don't be in a hurry to cut them back. They should bear for at least 2-3 weeks before they slow down.
