This will be my first year trying sfg. I made my first box over the weekend and plan to make the second one, fill both, and plant this weekend. Both will consist of vegetables. I'd love to have a bed of iris'. Would the bulbs survive our zone 5 winter in a raised bed?

I would say yes. Just choose cultivars that are hardy to at least zone 3 or 4. I would be sure to cover them with mulch once the ground starts to freeze in the winter and remove it in the Spring. You don't want them to rot. Irises are pretty tough. I would suggest planting them no more than one per square foot since they spread pretty quickly. Kim

Agreed with Kim. And you'll likely have to divide more often if in a raised bed. Dan
