Companion planting in a square foot garden...

Ok, so I've found tons of info about what herbs and flowers companion best with each of my veggies, but can't find ANYTHING about how close/far away they need to be... I have a few different herbs and I want to put in some marigolds and zinnias... can I plant around the border of my bed, in between veggie plants, etc.?

Don't know if this is what you are looking for, but the link below might help.

I usually give marigolds their own square, since they tend to get big in a SFG; and then I'll plant just one, since those are precious squares! The only time I'd intersperse them is if I'll be harvesting something like lettuce or radishes before the flower plants get too big.
