If you are talking about a morning glory that you bought as a seed in a packet, then yes they are good trap crops and you have stumbled upon a main tenet of IPM. If you are talking about a white-fl'd weed that popped up spontaneously, get rid of it now as you don't want these in the garden, yard, property, neighborhood, etc. Kill it, eradicate it, annihilate it, destroy it, kiiiiiillllll! KIIIIIIILLLL! uh...erm...ahem.

Thanks Dan, I have gotten about 4 or 5 inside the garden and pulled them up except the one in the running lima bean. I will remove them prompty. The beetle that was eating the leaves is the little beetle that will eat your roses. I have had them on the rose bushes for years and had to spray them to keep the roses. Time will tell if they will also eat the lima bean. How dare they. Thanks for the help.

If the morning glories attract the beetles away from your beans and your roses you can use them as a trap plant. Plant them away from your beans and roses and out of the way. Then you can pick the beetles off the morning glories where you don't care about some damage instead of off your beans and roses. I've read that morning glories, radishes and zucchini can be used a succession trap plants for cucumber beetle.
