Great garden. I think the DE does need to be dry to work. I think it is suppose to be put down again after it rains. At least that is how it has worked for me. I've read about letting them drown in beer...have ya tried that? I have no experience with it but Have thought about trying.

Loved your photos! You have so many things growing, it's great. I loved the cat curled up in the one box, and of course Maggie. My first dog was named Maggie :) .
So, is it the slugs that are making the holes in your cabbage? Mine look like that too, and I did notice some slugs in the yard, but never anywhere near my boxes.

Yes it is slugs that are eating my cabbage. I've tried beer, but they seemed to prefer the cabbage. Also, we've had a lot of rain so no matter what I put out for the slugs it's gone within a day due to the rain. I've hand picked a few, but they are hard to find sometimes.

The cats (I have three) love to sleep in the boxes. The problem is that they will sometimes sleep on the plants. Before the straw is put down they will poop in the boxes so I keep them covered with chickenwire until the straw is put down. Once the straw is put down then they lay down in it. My insect repellent keeps they away though. I guess they don't like the smell. Of course then we're back to the rain again. I'm not complaining about the rain though.
