Possible cause for stunted growth

Hey all,
So we had put some new sfg beds in the front lawn early September for cold weather veggies. Both beds contain the same veggies, but there is only one difference. After filling the left bed with vermiculite, peat moss and home made compost we realized we pretty much ran out compost. We supplemented the right bed with bagged manure from one of the big box stores and added the last bit (maybe 1.5 - 2 cubic feet) of compost.
We have noticed that the right bed has grown significantly slower than the left bed. Could the manure possibly be the issue.

In my opinion yes.
Was the bagged manure composted ?, or was it hot?
Aged manure should only be used.
Fresh is added to the compost pile to aid in the composting process.
Remember compost needs to be made from 5 or more ingredients.

Mel truly means well when he talks about adding compost for your plants nutrition and it will cure all the ailments. However, the only way for you to know for sure what your soll needs is to take a soil sample to your Extension Service and have the soil tested. Then you'll know for sure. More often than not, you can find the proper fertilizer mix at your local garden center.
