photos posting from Photobucket

I am exasperated trying to find any intelligible directions for posting photos here. I have a lot of pics at photobucket, but the steps to post a photo are nowhere to be found in this forum.

Can anyone help me with this problem?

Hi boizeau,

I'll attempt to try and help you.

1...Go to the album that contains the pic you are wanting to post.
2...if you see codes below the pic and one of them is HTML code, LEFT click on the code, and it will very briefly flash copied.
2a...If you don't see any codes beneath the picture, then hover cursor over the pic and the code will appear, and then you hover cursor over HTML Code and LEFT click. You should then see 'copied' flash briefly in yellow in the box.
3...come back to your message box here, and RIGHT click and then choose PASTE
4...once you are finished with your message and copying the code for all pics, hit Preview Message
5...Once the Preview page comes up, you should see your pic as it will appear in your message. If all is well, continue and hit submit.

If the picture doesn't show up on Preview, then something is wrong...and back to the drawing board.

Normally it is best to post testing posts, or for help at The GW Test Forum. There are some very helpful forum 'regulars' there who will work with you until you have it mastered.

Well, the problem has been solved. It is now possible to upload pics from your computer. See the Browse link below under "Post a Follow-UP."

you have to go to the settings on the photo bucket page and click on the setting that says account options (its on the top of the page)then go down to where it says edit my album settings then click on the box where it says my album is: private will be in the box just click on the box and change to public. Then remember to save the changes and that should work.

If you want to post photos directly into your message you need to put some HTML tags around the links that Photobucket gives you. Copy the HTML code (as momof2 suggests) and add this to the beginning of the code: type this character put this next: (no space) url and then type the opposite character > at the end of the HTML code type this character put this next: /url type this last (no space): > the reason I have to spell it out for you is that when you do it correctly it disappears. Garden Web has a page just for people to practice posts like this. Or you can just keep doing "Preview" until it looks right. The photo should show up without having to click on a link once you get you code typed correctly. Good luck. Denise example of how the HTML code disappears and only the photograph shows up

It has been in a confusing change process but this is what I do using Win7 and Opera browser. Very much like Zep's. 1. open your folder with wanted image & minimize it to get it out of the way. 2. enter photobucket user name and password (log in). 3. in new screen, left click the orange UPLOAD box. 4. maximize your folder with images and left click on the .jpg file wanted. 5. in the dialog box that appears asking if you want to upload files to smg.photobucket.com left click YES. 6. now an unrelated video opens where the pic should be -- below it is a thumbnail of your pic --- left click on that thumbnail. 7. new screen appears with larger thumb. and to the right are 4 links in boxes --- left click on the one labeled HTML --- it vanishes for a second as it copies that link to your windows clipboard (cache). At this point I paste into notepad so I can compose text to go with my pic. Or bypass that and paste the copied link wherever wanted using the right-click of the mouse to get the paste option. Neat photo EmmaR.

Hi Bodica, I am not sure what you mean but if you mean you don't want anyone to follow the link from your pic posted here, yes, you can block that. Go to "Your Albums" and act like you are going to add some photos. A box comes up that says "Upload Images and Video". At the bottom of that same box is "Reduce To" and "More Options". Click the "More Options" and scroll down a bit. You will see a litle check box with the words: "Scramble filenames so nobody can guess your links" Click that box and then SAVE. Go back to your albums and Refresh the page. Anyone now clicking on properties of your pic posted here or anywhere, cannot follow the encoded link back to your PhotoBucket. I hope that's what you were looking for.

Sue, can you help me? I have been trying to post pictures for 2 days, from Photobucket. It started when the new thing above, "Image file to upload (optional):" appeared.

It shows the picture, but say's rejected for invalid link or something like that. I can post the image to "Optional Link URL:" and I name it. It shows up on the error page but will not let me post!

In the box "Image file to upload (optional):" It has a partial address of the pic I want to upload. I can't erase it, when I click it goes to my PC files.
