Large plant Yellow flower ID Please

Attached is an image of a plant in my yard. It is 8 feet tall, 4 feet wide with small yellow daisy like flowers. It's in a partially shaded spot and blooms in August. What is it and how can I divide it?

I'm not seeing your picture, and would suggest you try asking at the link below.

I'd also suggest that you update your member profile to show your garden zone/location. See I am 5/6 S INdiana.

This plant is in my yard in a partly shaded spot. It blooms in August, is 8 ft high, 4 ft wide and has yellow daisy like flowers. The leaves are 4 inches long and are attached at the stem.

Might it be Cup Plant, Silphium perfoliatum? If not, you might try the Name That Plant Forum.
