On a related note (about carpet, but not about pet urine): If the listing brags that the home has just had new carpet installed, ask for a copy of the invoice that lists the brand and style of carpet that was installed. Then, research it to determine if it was cheap "landlord" type of carpet (probably polypropylene or olefin). If so, plan on having to replace that carpet much, much sooner than if the seller had chosen a good 6 strand nylon or wool and adjust your offer accordingly.

Ok...I think I've made a decision - sort of. I didn't want to do the entire room in green and considered the turquoise as in the inspiration photo but the family room just a short hop away is already in 2 tones of turquoise (BM Blue Seafoam & Opal Essence). I love the idea that dianalo gave: green and navy. We have a lot of NY Yankees collectibles so wasn't quite sure how I was going to feature all that against apple green walls. I'm going to do 3 walls in a green and 1 wall in navy. Of course, I haven't decided on a green yet (may try it at 1/2 strength - will have to ask the guys at BM) nor a blue. I have a sample of BM Midnight Navy but I think it's just too dark for his room. He really loves that apple green so I may just bite my tongue & paint as you did, cyn. :) BTW - he was thrilled when I showed him the map photo this morning when he woke up. He ran into the master bedroom & I heard him yell, "Daddy! Wake up! I'm going to have a green room with a big map!". He was not this enthusiastic when I showed him this lovely sports-themed room: So, green it is. Thank you for the link to the "Shrek green" thread - enjoyed reading it & of course, it gave me other colors to look at this week. Jody I think Pinalen is an all purpose cleaner, floors, sinks, ect, and can be added to laundry to remove odors and freshen, but not a laundry detergent per say where Pinol is a laundry detergent, the Pinol comes in powder and liquid. As for the mop on the Pinol, I don't know, I know its a laundry detergent, mine doesn't have a pic of a mop, but maybe there's a Pinol for floors also. As for scent I don't know about the Pinalen, but my Pinol, I have 2different scents and neither smell like pinesol to me, but they do have a great herbal scent.

It's on a very long list of common household items that are hazardous to our health. I'm someone with pretty severe chemical sensitivities, so have become familiar with the worst of the worst. Someone like me, or any couple wanting to become pregnant, pregnant women, children, those with compromised immune systems, and pets of any species can face problems with chronic exposures to the chemicals in our cleaning agents, detergents, artificial fragrances in anything, soaps, shampoos, new furnishings, and more. We're bombarded on all sides, sometimes relentlessly. And it takes research to discover all of the ingredients, learn about possible side effects, and make decisions.
