for the handles, may I suggest something to pick up on the hues in the flooring? A little more copper toned. you have light cabs, light floors. I think throwing in a dark ORB w/o actual copper highlights would be too much of a contrast. IMO. cypress park Sandra, I like the porcelain one better than the other one. Does the backsplash have to be done immediately? If the tones in the porcelain tile you picked clash w/the ivory tones in the counter, it could be a problem. However, I did find some copper toned ones that should be avail. these are porcelain/SS, and treated so as not to stain or tarnish. I LOVE these for your kitchen. timeless and gorgeous. Heatheron40, very nice. I asked a question about doing a tile countertop in our guest cabin recently as I feel like the look would complement the cabin aesthetic. Also I’m dying to learn to tile and thought it would be a fun place to start as it’s not an everyday space and I could take my time. Most of the responses were against. Basically stating the grout would make me crazy. The guy at the said what you’re saying I think, he said that modern grouts are more resistant to staining and such, and also to go with a tinted grout of some sort. I love your use of pattern to give it interest and intention!

Yes, apples to apples because the quote has all the things like edges and fabrication. I only used the online stuff as a guide to see if it was worth pursuing the price. The decor lady says that maybe their granite people don't have the buying power. But how can that be when one of the granite yards they suggested has the Bahia Blue I wanted in the beginning on their website and has five locations in FL? That is $23K more than the quote IGS gave me for a 70 ft. countertop. And even without buying power how could it be double without installation? The builder has said they don't take a markup and I'll take them at their word. This installer is way out of line. And why wouldn't they be when I'm captive and they won't let me use anyone else? The builder also said it's about insurance. Seriously? It seems insurance covers all the work, not a particular supplier. I think they want to push me towards all Cambria which is okay and I'm using that in the master bath and laundry room. Do they really have to make a killing because they don't feel like getting me what I like?

it's not horrible. but I agree, the rough edge should have been done better to blend w/the other piece. I also think they could have done a better job matching up the pieces. 100% they should have informed you where they were going to cut and how the ends would look against one another. Most reputable fabricators will show the client and have them sign off before they cut, just for this reason. you have a lot going in there from what I can see. a very busy backsplash, red/brown cabinets and a blue/gray wall color? and bright white outlets. you can buy colored outlets/plates that would blend in w/the tile. or get the wood one and paint it yourself to match the tile color. when shown against everything else you have happening in that space, the seaming really isn't that noticeable.
