split screwbean trunk

Hi:

My 3 year old screwbean mesquite lost one of it's major limbs during a windstorm in late summer. In the process it split the main 'trunk'. What course of action should I take to fix this, if any?

Thanks!

RE: split screwbean trunk

Should have good roots. Just before Spring, I would cut it cleanly below the split. It will regrow from the stump.
