Avacado and Citrus in greenhouse

Where I live in the foothills near Paso Robles, I have been advised that we have too hard of frosts in winter and the summers are too hot and dry for avacado and citrus. However being a So Cal transplant I want to figure out a way to have those essentials.

Has anyone had success growing these in greenhouses? I figured if I removed the plastic greenhouse cover after the last frost and replaced it with shading mesh that would help eliminate the heat issue in the summer. If that was not enough I thought adding an outside spray humidifier/cooler like used at desert resturants would help any burning issues although that could promote powdery mildew if any exists in this dry climate.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

David
