Albuquerque-What WAS that plant

Texas2Step

When I lived in Albuquerque a neighbor gave me a start of a plant that someone had given to her. She just pull a few and told me to plant them. They didn't do much the first year but the second year I had a profusion of hot pink flowers. These flowers spread underground by growing shoots out the side of the roots. They even came up in the rocks. They were happy in shade or sun but the flowers seemed a richer color in full sun.

Does ANYONE know what these were, what family of plant they might have been in, and/or where I might get a start?

I now live on 7 acres but have a HUGE cement curbed planter that I would like to put these in.

Any help you can give, I would appreciate it. I've always been sick that I didn't pull some up and bring them when we were transferred.

Thanks a bunch!

Jamie
