When to transplant lysoloma trees?

I have two in pots that I intended for the patio. However, they don't seem to like being in pots - don't grow, thin foliage, leaf drop for whatever reason - so I think I'll give up this idea and put them in the ground. Is now a good time to do that? If not, when?

In Phoenix, now is probably good, to get good root development before the intense heat arrives.
