New back yard problems !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by vegan-grower NEVADA (My Page) on

My house faces north with my back yard facing south My back yard size is around 60' x 20'.

My problem is that during the summer months the whole back yard gets full sun. But during the winter months 2/3's of my back yard turns into full shade because of the winter's direction of the sun. I'm finding that no sun what so ever gets to 2/3's of my back yard against the back 6 foot wall.

I've rock landscaped the whole back yard with an upper planter area with 8 five gallon container's for plants and the bottom area is a river bed with 10 one gallon container's winding around the edges of the river rock. All is set up with drip system to each container.

My problem is what kinds of plants should I try in the upper area with such an diverse conditions.

I don't what trees just some nice shrubs say about 3 to 4 feet at maturity. ANY IDEAS ??????

Two ideas:

1. If you haven't done so, post in the Nevada forum. It seems to get a little more traffic.

2. Say what part of Nevada you're in. It makes a Big difference.
