Callaeum macroptera winter care?

| I have a butterfly vine, Callaeum macroptera, about 9 feet tall that has dropped all its leaves due to a freezing spell here in Bryan, TX so it is now just bare branches. Does anyone know if I should prune it, or even shear it to the ground, for Spring? I am hoping it will leaf out again from the bare branches, but I don't know if it does this. I know it is still alive because there are small shoots coming up from the ground.
Thanks! |

| Depending on how cold you got this winter, the stems may be alive. Cut one to see, or wait to see if they start to leaf out. This plant should at least be root hardy where you are, so it will grow back from roots. I any event, I wouldn't cut back all stems until you are sure. These are fast growing vines, so you will get some nice growth this summer either way. |

| Thanks for the advice. I checked, and the stems are still very much alive, they just have dead, dry brown leaves hanging on them. I'll pull off the dead leaves and hopefully new ones will grow. |
