Pony Tail Palms

I would like to transplant some Pony Tail Palms into my yard. I just bought these at Costco. I know that they are probably JACK-UP on Nitrogen but I would like to see them do well in my yard.

What should I do to insure their growth.

I am about to get rid of my front lawn and do some xeriscaping. Will these do well there. (ZOne 9 pretty much full sun).

Also what will these look like in 2-5 years.

thanks.

Exactly which part of z9 do you live? Knowing would be helpful in answering your questions.

I have a ponytail palm in my yard doing fine. But it's planted near the house in a corner that's sheltered and gets more water than the rest of my yard. I have no idea if that makes a difference or not.
