When to plant what now through spring in ABQ

Greetings,
I will be moving to NE heights ABQ within the next couple of weeks. Does anyone know the last average frost date for that area?

I am wondering what can be planted there now - and within the next several weeks - as winter ends and spring begins. Any recommendations are appreciated.

Thanks.
John R

Cool weather seeds can probably go in the ground now, things like Sweet Peas, Nasturtiums, Morning Glory, etc. For actual plants, you could probably get away with things like Mints, Pansies, or others that can take a bit of frost.

I usually plan on last frost to be around April 1. But it sometimes falls a couple weeks earlier or later. I've seen it snow significantly here as late as April 15 - but that was a strange one, usually we're out of any danger of serious snow by the end of February.

My Crocus have bloomed and gone already and my daffodils are in full bloom. The tulips are up, but no buds yet. My Sweet Peas from last year are greening up and getting ready to go crazy as well as my Iris, Day Lillies, Rosemary, Mints, Honesty, Cat Nip, and Horehounds. My wormwoods (absinthe and silver mound) are also actively growing (they never really stop...) So any of those should work as well. And of course a host of weeds are already germinating, I need to get out there and get that taken care of ASAP.

My fruit trees (peach and cherry) are in bud, but probably won't bloom for another 2-3 weeks. My Passifloras, Kiwis, Pomegranates, and Artichokes are still fully dormant, and probably will be until mid-late April.

Are the low temperatues of number of hours of frost in the ABQ area now declining? If so, I would think it would be a good time to plant hardy perennials, if they have good root development?

Thanks for the info. I will use it wisely.

I would say yes. Did you have any specific plants in mind that you were thinking about planting? The low temps are still usually in the 30's, with very occasional dips below 32 (only 2 of the next seven days have low temps forecast at or below 32).

I'm just barely getting my beds cleaned up - I probably won't be planting for another week or two, but lots of plants are waking up already.
