Best cantalope variety for Albuquerque?

| Last year I had some amazing volunteer cantalopes come up. The inside of the cantalope was the most wonderful, deep golden color, and the flavor was equally great, sweet, juicy and firm. I am wondering what variety of cantalope you folks have grown successfully. I have a full-sun area where I would like to grow these guys. The volunteers must have been from cantalope seeds in the compost, which means it would have been an ordinary supermarket-type cantalope. Could the difference have been my soil? |

| I am down in Alamogordo. I have had wonderful luck with "Hales Best" the only problem I had was that neighbor squirrels found the melons and ate a lot of them last year. |
