Opuntia ficus-indica in ABQ?

Is anyone growing Opuntia ficus-indica in Albuquerque? Just curious. I know it's not really hardy for that zone, but I know some adventurous gardeners like to push the envelope sometimes. I think it might work in the right microclimate. Thanks-

Albuquerque is such a diverse place with a 1,000 ft. plus variation in altitude, I wouldn't be surprised if there were some choice locations that might work out. Valley, no. Foothills, possibly in a courtyard. I have seen ficus-indica sold here, but haven't seen them in the ground anywhere.

There's a lot of rich sandy soil in New Mexico and it's surroundings, I'm sure it will grow in ABQ.

As I side note, I have opuntia ficus indica extract in my freezer which I use as a cure for hangover :)

Here is a link that might be useful: Opuntia Ficus Indica fact sheet
