Confused with grass in ABQ

Well, we've just about had it with all the sand tracking into the house! We've mulched the flower beds and gravelled the edges, now we're ready for grass! I really like the Legacy buffalo grass, but it doesn't do well in sandy soil. I've read a little about Reveille but need to learn more about it. I haven't seen any actual lawns, but from the pictures I've seen, I don't like blue grama as a turf grass.

We are prepared to have to mend the soil with something, but first we need to decide on the grass. We would like to sod since we have dogs, and would prefer something that doesn't take much water. HCG has a dwarf fescue seed that looks nice, but it's seed (how long after seeding until dogs can be on it?). I've also learned of fescue and park blend (which is supposed to be great for high traffic - dogs), but it seems like they may take more water than I like. Is there a good, low water, high sun, heavy foot traffic grass for me, or am I asking too much?

Thanks!

Vanessa
