Whipple's yucca survive winter in Santa Fe!

For anyone who might be interested...

Last year I posted on the cacti and succulent forum, asking about Whipple's Yucca (Y. whipplei) hardiness. After researching the web, and finding promising info (some have been successful in Rhode Island) and discouraging info (some have been unsuccessful in Albuquerque), I decided to plant out two small (about 18 months old) individuals.

After a hard winter (in terms of snow, length of freezing temperatures) with several nights around -2F and many below 10F here in Santa Fe, both yucca plants have survived, with varying amounts of leaf burn. And, they're both putting out new leaves now, and unless we get down around zero suddenly, they should be fine. I'll get some pictures to post on this thread for anyone who's interested.

Chris
