Beheading siamese yuccas

I have several "teenage" tree Yuccas, one Torreyi and two Elatas, that bloomed for the first time last year. To my dismay, they all now seem to be growing at least two heads instead of one. I prefer the more symmetrical look of a single growing point. Can the new/secondary growth points be pruned out, or should I make adjustments to my attitude instead of the plants?
