Help with plant choices, North Houston (Zone 8 or 9)

I am trying to spruce up my front yard, and eventually the back too. I LOVE the planting in the attached pictures. Can anyone help me with plant choices that will give me this kind of look and feel, as drought tolerant/ low to no water use other than rain, as possible for North Houston (Zone 8 or 9) as we dont have a sprinkler system. New to hot weather gardening so any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

You'll want to emulate the look of native coastal prairie for this type of garden to work well. I would include Gulf Muhly, Little Bluestem, Sideoats Grama (grasses), Butterfly Gaura, Gulf Coast Penstemon (perennials), and Chilipequin (shrub). These should handle clay soil well.
