Yucca sources...

Posted by Chitown33 Chicago z6 (My Page) on

I want to get 3 yuccas for a rock garden, one about 4-5ft tall, and two about 2-3ft tall. Does anyone know of any good sources for any?
The three I am thinking of getting are:
Yucca Ridiga (maybe)
Yucca Rostrata/Thompsoniana
Yucca Elata
I'd also consider a Y. Faxoniana.

If anyone has any advice, comments, or can give any help on this project, It would be greatly appreciated.

First ... make sure the species can stand a Chicago winter.

I'd check with local nurseries and gardening books for that area to see what can live there.

Thanks, I have done my homework and I know they can live here. I already have some smaller ones of the ones I mentioned above and they did just fine, as well as other people growing them around here.

Thanks for your help.

Have you looked at Plant Delights nursery? I ordered from them and received my order a few days ago-- rostrata was among my yucca and agave purchases.

how's this for obvious? Try Yucca Do Nursery in Texas. I like them a lot. I also like Plant Delights, which Julianna mentioned above.
