Does false red yucca come back from roots??

Maybe you people over here in this forum can help me. I had a hesperaloe parviflora (brought back from TX) out in a dry-ish sunny spot in the yard last year. Well, I don't know if it got kicked over or what during the winter, but somehow the foliage separated from the roots. The spikes are still green, but I'm sure they're goners. (I assume no one has successfully rooted them like a regular leaf...?) Well, I was going to plant something else in that location, and noticed the roots (there were 2 or 3 of them) were still very plump, firm and whitish. Does this mean (as it would with the plants I'm used to) that I might expect some new growth from these roots???

I'm going to pot them up in some good-draining soil and hope for the best, but I just wondered if anyone had any experiences such as this with them. Thanks in advance!

Leesa

They grow fine from "Root Division" and of course seed. We grow all ours from seed and now found a hybird of yellow flowers on some that we've marked for future collection. Once these are established (and it sounds like yours is) it will come back, if its large enough you might consider digging it up and dividing it into sections then re-planting each section.
