Water feature?

I want to put out a water feature in my garden. It gets really hot and dry in the summer. I can't attach it to any water lines. Does anyone know of anything I can make? I'm thinking of something that drips slowly.

A fountain wouldn't need to be connected to any water lines. A simple design would be to take a large bucket or tub and bury it in the ground. Fill with water and place a small submersible pump with a 1/4inch hose in bucket/tub. Cover bucket with some rigid wire and some coarse shade cloth or weed stop. Cover the cloth with coarse gravel. Find an interesting container that is water proof and smaller then the bucket or tub you buried. Set it so that as the water overflows the side it goes into the buried tub. Run the 1/4 inch line into the top container. Seal if necessary. Hide 1/4 inch water line and pump cord. Plug pump into a GFI protected electrical outlet.

Oh, sorry. I mean electric lines, not water lines.

Try a solar power fountain. You can put it anywhere there is sun. The downside is it will run only when the solar cell is in the sun or until stored power runs out in the evening. I had one for a while, it quit after a couple years and I haven't replaced it. That was five years ago, they have probably improved since then. I've been planning to get another one soon. Here's one link I found. There are thousands out there though.

Oooh, thanks for the link! They have some I really like. I actually have one solar fountain but it only really works on really sunny days. Same with the solar lights by the drive way. I never really have great results with anything solar.

Solar fountains work great where electric is an issue. Also, most Solar fountains are slow dripping. We purchased one a year ago and it was the best thing we did. It attracts many beautiful birds and the soothing sounds are incredible. We bought it from a Fountain webs site and they provided free ground shipping. The one we purchased was the Argos Solar BB Fountain. We are very happy with our decision, and spend many hours outside enjoying it. Hope this helps!
