Cereus Hexagonus care

Hello all,
A friend at work gave me a Cereus Hexagonus (Night Blooming Cereus) approx 8 foot tall, with 3 branches growing out of it. It was on her property and I had asked her if it could tolerate full sun. "Oh, sure no problem" So I have it planted in my yard. It gets a good amount of sun, has 9 blooms on it, but it doesn't look like it is taking water and is getting a tiny bit shriveled. I tried to find infomation on the web about it, and only found one piece that said this cactus needed shade. Now I wish I would have known that because I will have to dig it up and replant it in the shade so it doesn't die on me. I love this cactus and all cactus. Especially the Cereus. But is this true that it prefers shade? Or could it be in shock? I let the roots dry out before I planted it. And when this girl dug it up at her house the roots weren't all there. If it starts shriveling could it be I am not giving enough water, giving too much? Please help me save this beauty! Thanks much.

| I also have a cereus. 15 years if not longer. Sits under my back porch. It does not get any sun ever, but plenty of light. I have a friend she has one in a hanging basket. Mine is in 15gl container in good draining soil add little soil on top twice a year. Also keep it pruned and fertilize every two weeks with halve the strength. last year in one of her blooming sperts I counted 22 blooms all in 3 days from each other. Hope this helps |
