| I'm running up against conflicting information here, and its driving me crazy. What zone am I in if I live in the high desert of S. California? I'm in Phelan, 12 miles west of Victorville. From what I've read, I had finally concluded that I'm in 8b. Then I read a post on this forum from someone in Apple Valley (only 30 minutes to the east of me) and her zone is listed as 9b. I know my sunset zone is between 10 and 11, but what is my USDA zone? Thank you.

| The best, and most time-consuming, way is to find climate data from the nearest weather station to you (similar altitude, etc.) and take an average of the lowest winter temperatures (lowest for every year) over the last 30 or more years and then plug that into the USDA formula. That would be the real-deal zone information for you. |
