Great plant! It looks so "tropical," yet it is as tough as nails. Up here in Durango, the red fall color is absolutely stunning. The fuzzy stems are a wonderful bonus in winter. Needs very little water when established. It thrives on abuse and neglect. You will love it. The only drawback: It spreads by suckering, so be sure to give it plenty of room. It's not the best for a foundation planting or specimen. If you plant it along a fence, you might want to check with your neighbor because it could move into their yard. But it's ideal for naturizing a backyard or as a pioneer plant in a new development. Great choice for ABQ. The local bank grows it with buffalo junipers and pyracantha (firethorn) in an unwatered parking lot "island." Looks great year round.
