| The great commercial chile pepper growing areas are in the central southern part of the state, an area having the longest frost-free growing season. Chiles from around Hatch and Las Cruces are famous. Everything must be irrigated, the water coming from aquifer wells and the river, primarily the Rio Grande. That said, chile peppers are also grown all around New Mexico often in small, local operations and naturally by home gardeners. One of the beauties of peppers is that they are so easy to grow in New Mexico's varied climates which have a unifying factor: summer heat with low humidity. |

| Well, not sure what you wish to accomplish. But I live in the Southern California Desert close to Palm Springs. I LOVE, ADORE, and CRAVE jalepenos! I bought 2 little plants from the nursery. One is now a tree! It just doesn't stop giving. I planted that one in the shade. The other is a small tree. They don't die back. They live through the winter, and just keep producing. Aside from my famous guacamole and tortilla soup, I make a jalepeno cocktail to splash around to keep unwanted pests out! Just water and blended peppers. Works like magic! |
