 o
zoysia grass anyone?

My old house has what I thought was a bermuda lawn. It has very fine & soft blades ... so much so that often people are afraid to walk on it as it is like stepping on a soft carpet ... but I know it is some type of hardy grass that has creeping stems & dies back in winter. A neighbor thought it was zoysia & bought some plugs of that (nothing indicating a variety on the shipping label) to start a lawn at her place but is so disappointed as these plugs (planted in March) have much wider blades than my grass has.

Has anyone had experience with zoysia ...? different varieties? Or bermuda varieties? Think my bermuda lawn was planted from seed years ago & it does produce seed (isn't sterile) heads & above ground runners between weekly mowings.

She is going to now try plugs of my lawn to get- whatever it is- started at her place in between the zoysia plugs.

I might add that we live at 5200 ft. elevation & often get winters in the 'teens here in USDA zone 7.

Pictures of grass and the seed heads?

Bermuda produces those "helicopter blade" things.
