Yucca rostrata problem

Jeff Ashenfelter

I ordered a yucca rostrata from high country gardens about a year ago. I am planning on trying to grow it out side in a couple of years. I've heard that some have them growing in Chicago.

The problem I was having is that the newest leaves would turn white and fall over when I'd take it outside. I talked to high country gardens and they said it was due to the humidity. I live in central Illinois. But how can it be humidity if there are people on the east coast and Chicago that have them growing outside year round?

Now it has gotten hotter and I can have it outside without the tip turning white and falling over. Could it be that older plants tolerate the humidity better?
